Bruno’s Hat-trick Hijinks and Keane’s Komplaints…
Rio Ferdinand has hilariously leapfrogged into Bruno Fernandes’ corner, following Manchester United’s grand 4-1 thumping of Real Sociedad. You could almost hear Ferdinand’s cape fluttering as the heroic defender swooped in to praise the hat-trick hero in this UEFA Europa League thriller. Bruno, the magical midfielder, not only pulled off a hat-trick but also took United cruising into the quarterfinals against Olympique Lyonnais. Meanwhile, Real Sociedad’s admitted Oyarzabal threatened with an early goal, and yet Bruno’s penalty prowess lit up Old Trafford like a corny romcom finale.
Rio, wielding his Instagram like a shield, clapped back at Roy Keane’s criticism of our boy Bruno, posting: “Bruno is our problem, they keep telling us…@brunofernandes8 aka captain! #manchesterunited.” It seems even legends feel the need to defend their faves from grumbly pundits and former teammates downgrading Fernandes’ wizardry to nothing more than a sleight of hand trick gone wrong.
Away from the field, however, Roy Keane’s eyebrows have yet to descend from their lofty heights. On The Overlap podcast, Keane seemed to audition for Grumpy Seven, debating with Ian Wright as though Fernandes was a missing dwarf from Snow White. According to Keane, “Talent’s not enough,” he insists, probably while checking to see how much talent went missing from his tea. This episode in football drama certainly has fans chuckling, with Ian Wright narrowly escaping Keane’s wrath with some quick verbal footwork. Ah, the beautiful game—where a good penalty on the field is as thrilling as a sideline squabble.
