Keane’s Hilarious Return to Football …

Once upon a time, Roy Keane swore he’d rather binge-watch everything on Netflix than participate in ‘legends’ matches. Yet, like a cat to a laser pointer, Keane couldn’t resist the pitch’s magnetic pull. The football gods had other plans for this fiery Irishman! Known for his bulldozer-style as a midfielder, Keane initially planned to hang up his boots indefinitely. But, surprise, surprise, he decided to make a comeback, proving you can’t keep a good man—even one who’s a bit out of breath—off the field forever.

However, the fitness fairy hadn’t sprinkled her magic on Keane lately. He admitted, “I’m not fit. I’m far from fit,” in a conversation with Off The Ball. Despite carrying the same face and physique (minus any extra pizza pounds), Keano confessed he couldn’t run even if someone was chasing him with a pint of Guinness. Yet, a mere month later, there he was, donning boots again during a “Legends of the North” game, facing off against Liverpool’s retired stars.

Lured by Denis Irwin, Keane made a cameo appearance, dodging the captain’s armband like it was hotter than a vindaloo. Although Liverpool triumphed with goals from Mark Gonzalez and Florent Sinama Pongolle, Roy’s reluctant return was the real headline grabber, proving some legends never say die—even if they can’t run very far!
