Carreras Is Happy Chilling at Benfica…

Once upon a time, Alvaro Carreras, the promising ex-Manchester United starlet, was a proud member of the Red Devils’ youth crew. But, oh, how the tables have turned! Now strutting his stuff at Benfica, Carreras seems to have put any thoughts of a return to Old Trafford on mute.

Since swapping his Manchester digs for the sunny streets of Portugal, Carreras has become Benfica’s go-to left-back, much like a vintage car that’s still chugging along perfectly. The young Spaniard has made a whopping 38 appearances, mostly as a starter, while keeping his eye on the prize — the Champions League!

Despite Manchester United having a buy-back clause in their back pocket, the arrival of fresh-faced Patrick Dorgu has thrown a bit of a googly on Carreras’ return. Huffing under speculation fumes, Carreras declared, “I’m concentrating on what I have to do,” in an interview with A Bola, while nibbling on some Portuguese pastel de nata.

Rumors of an encore performance at Real Madrid have also danced in the air, but Carreras assures everyone he’s very content being Benfica’s best buddy. With his long-term contract tightly in hand, Alvaro’s focus remains on waving Barcelona goodbye in the Champions League. Silence those Old Trafford whispers – for now!
