The Tale of the One who Got Away… Again!…

In a tale that’s more tangled than a football net after a squirrel invasion, Manchester United found themselves megged by fate in 2022. They sought the incredible Luis Enrique, a gaffer whose skills could turn even a soggy biscuit into a crunch-tastic morsel. But alas, the Red Devils lost their chance as Enrique was bound for the land of tapas and siestas—Spain, alas! While juggling emotions like they’re flaming footballs, Enrique dealt with a heart-wrenching personal tragedy that would melt even a referee’s whistle.

Fast-forward to a chilly night at the Emirates, where Enrique, now the grandmaster of PSG, out-brained Arsenal in a 1-0 tango that had fans performing dance moves seldom seen outside a wedding disco. As Andy Mitten exclaimed through the social media pitch, Enrique, with his celestial-sized courage, was the brainiac orchestrator PSG needed to end their European jinx. Not quite the chosen one for Old Trafford, for timing was worse than a frozen pitch in August!

And what of United? They donned the Dutch clogs of Erik ten Hag after Ole Gunnar’s exit, but his reign was shorter than a match summary on Twitter. Though ten Hag danced them to cup glory, their league antics left Manchester United finishing eighth, as if they were hiding from the top of the table like hedgehogs in winter. Now under the wild management of Ruben Amorim, United keeps their eyes, and possibly their shoelaces, on the future. Meanwhile, Enrique was viewed by Chelsea, Tottenham, and Arsenal with the same side-eye you’d give a one-booted player in the club car park. Could only mean one thing – the maestro has once again left the English shores wanting more!
