Epic Football Fan Odyssey…

In a tale straight out of a footballing comic book, the scenes at Bilbao post-Europa League final looked like a mash-up of The Walking Dead and Wacky Races! Football fanatics turned bus station campers lined the floors like sprinkles on a donut, while the taxi apocalypse meant only those with wings or secret teleporters had a chance of escaping. Uber? More like U-believe-it! If you were tapping your shoes waiting for a taxi, you’d have turned into a caramel statue by the time one arrived!

For the brave souls attempting the treacherous 14km trek to the airport, it was a journey so epic that some might say they followed in the Hobbit’s hairy footsteps. Plodding along in the wee hours, wrapped in hella trendy plastic wraps, they could have started a new fashion line called ‘Airport Couture.’ Alas, only to be greeted by a slumbering airport. Closed! Like a giant, yawning mouth with no intention to wake – until 4 a.m.! Not exactly the after-party anyone had in mind.

Poor Josh snagged the comfiest window archway to snooze, finding his ankle in more knots than his university exams on return. Fans were crafting beds out of flags, jackets, and a sprinkle of hope, like bizarre quilt artisans. And the soccer saga still echoes on social media with emotional tweets capturing this frosty misadventure. Who needs inspirations like ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ when you’ve got ‘Play, Sleep, Tweet’ – all under the rarefied sky of Bilbao!
