Giggs Dismissed, Restaurant Served a Deficit Delight!…

Well, consider this a messy tackle in the world of business. Ryan Giggs, Manchester United’s former legend, has faced an economic penalty as his restaurant, George’s Dining Room and Bar, closed its doors with a hefty tab of nearly £500,000. Situated in Worsley, Salford, this once-joyful foodie haven invited creditors to dine on an unappetizing serving of £478,000 deficiency. Clearly, more than footballs were dropped here!

Launched in 2014 by Giggs and pals Kelvin Gregory and Bernie Taylor, the restaurant’s finances were indeed less “sweet chili” and more “bitter broccoli”. Companies House documents show the invitation list of creditors was a who’s who: HMRC, British Gas, and a sad, lonely Bounce Back Loan, among others. Meanwhile, poor Giggs is still waiting to collect a cool £100k, while his buddies are owed cheaper platters of £13,000 and £53,000.

It’s not all kitchen nightmares, though. While Giggs’ brainchild scrambled under expenses, his other venture, the Stock Exchange Hotel, wasn’t exactly kicking goals either, recording a hefty £2.5m loss. And let’s not forget Hotel Football near Old Trafford, getting red-carded with consistent losses despite some sprinkles of financial growth. One might say businesses, like football matches, don’t always end with a winning score!
