Sancho’s Adventure in Birmingham Begins…
Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho is nearing a season-long loan deal with Aston Villa. Sancho’s quest for a new home began after Chelsea somehow misplaced their commitment to buy him. While Aston Villa’s start to the season has been rougher than a porcupine in a bouncy castle, they’re ready to snag Sancho on deadline day. They’ve agreed to handle 80% of his hefty wages, with bonuses that should cover the rest, leaving United to pocket a loan fee. It seems like Sancho is as frequent a traveler on Transfer Deadline Day as Santa on Christmas Eve! Marcus Rashford previously made a similar move to Villa after his bond with Ruben Amorim went on vacation. Sancho, meanwhile, has been warming up solo at Carrington since July. Chelsea, having paid a £5m breakup penalty, backed out of signing him, while Roma suggested their own loan offer. Sancho once arrived from Borussia Dortmund with dreams bigger than a T-Rex in a top hat, but his stint at United culminated in just 12 goals and six assists over 83 matches, due to a breakdown with Erik ten Hag and a subsequent Dortmund loan return. Surely, another move is just what he needs to rediscover his rhythm.
