Bilic Defends Amorim as Appointment Alarms Ring…

Is Ruben Amorim stuck playing chess with half the pieces? Slaven Bilic thinks so! Amorim, Manchester United’s gaffer, is taking flak for the team’s wibbly-wobbly start this season. They’ve managed to win only five out of 16 Premier League games, plus a cheeky exit from the FA Cup penalty box after Fulham got the better of them. Even the Europa League tossed them a 1-1 draw against Real Sociedad.

Bilic popped up on talkSPORT’s ‘The Line Up’ to defend the embattled manager, raising an eyebrow at the board’s decision-making instead. “Come on lads,” Bilic quipped, “why force square pegs into round holes with this 3-4-2-1 business? You’ve got a bunch of players more comfortable with a four-at-the-back setup! Who misplaced the wing-backs?” As it stands, United sits at an unlucky 14th.

Pointing to Arne Slot’s success with Liverpool, Bilic highlighted how due diligence pays off. He suggests United’s head-honchos should’ve known Amorim’s love for wing-backs before hiring him. Bilic believes our beleaguered Portuguese coach will eventually catch on in the Premier League. “The man’s got chops!” Bilic reminded everyone. “He shook things up at Sporting, and deserves a bit of time. Give him a break, will you?”
