Elyh Harrison: From Chester to Carrington…
Once upon a time, Elyh Harrison was the king of Chester – Chester City’s goal, that is. This 19-year-old had big dreams of wearing the Manchester United jersey for more than just his school talent show. After a dazzling display during his loan at the National League North side, he returned to United, dreaming big and bench-warming in style!
Last weekend, he was almost pushed into the limelight when Andre Onana nearly swapped his boots for a bedpan due to illness. Alas, Onana played on, with Elyh watching wistfully, his gloves at the ready. The young goalie’s dry spell continued as he kept the bench warm for both the Europa League and Premier League matches, with injuries booting others out of the way.
According to under-21 goalkeeping guru Tommy Lee, Elyh has grown more confident and assertive – he’s gone from the best kid on the playground to the class nerd who aces everything! United loves sending their youngsters on non-league adventures to toughen them up, and it seems Elyh’s up next for a shot at the United dream. His time at Chester was just the ticket, with Elyh coming back to Carrington ready to grab his dreams, one save at a time.
