Chido Obi’s U21 Debut and United Adventures…
Denmark’s new teen sensation, Chido Obi, has been making waves from the bench, leading our Scandinavian friends to cross everything and hope he sees grass time at Manchester United. His thrilling extra-time cameos for Denmark’s Under-21s have everyone wondering if he’ll need to swap his sneakers for wings at this summer’s European U21 Championships in Slovakia.
National team boss, Steffen Højer, clearly had his Danish pastries as he praised Obi’s flair. “Young lad fitting in? Check!” quipped Højer. While the other players were busy being seasoned pros, Obi rolled in, five years their junior, mastering the art of being young AND impressive. In two not-so-friendly draws, Obi flexed his skills and got his coach daydreaming about future goals, quite literally.
Having hopped over from Arsenal after a whirlwind tour including a 10-goal spectacle against Liverpool, Obi’s now busy painting Manchester red (and not a Gunners shade). United’s taskmaster, Ruben Amorim, sees pure potential, chuckling about Obi’s antics – longing for more ball-time. Sure, Obi might occasionally blend innocence and boldness like a toddler wearing mum’s heels, but when it comes to the box, he’s got a nose for the bola!
