From Football Pitches to Racecourses…
Tyson Fury has swapped the roar of the football crowd for the thunder of hooves, giving up on supporting Manchester United in favor of the horse racing circuit. On Bank Holiday Monday, Fury was at Cartmel with shades perched on his nose, hat in place, and sunscreen probably thick enough to deter even the nosiest mosquito. Two of his equine pals were racing, but Big Gypsy King must have mistaken the track for a tea party, finishing 40 lengths behind. Despite high hopes, Manchester United’s lackluster kickoff to the season hasn’t been enough to lure him back from the stables, and he nonchalantly declared his detachment from the sport claiming, “I’m no supporter!”
In a twist more unexpected than Big Gypsy King jumping fences, Fury also sold his coastal villa, moving his focus entirely onto his growing fleet of racehorses. Alongside manager Spencer Brown, he paraded their new superstar, Sea The Clouds, a recent purchase who took to the track like a duck to water—though it was withdrawn with some fences remaining just before turning into a pumpkin. Racing fans witnessed his other steed, too, but it seemed like someone forgot to tell them it wasn’t a circus act as they artfully danced around the finish line. Meanwhile, winning jockey Sean Bowen galloped to victory aboard the favorite, Olivers Travels, possibly powered by horse-flavored energy bars. It seems that Tyson’s heart now thumps for trotters rather than strikers!
